Journey back to Cochabamba
Well my journey from Peru was quite a long one and I am glad to be back in Cochabamba now.
My journey consisted of a 8 and a half hour journey from Arequipa, Peru - Desaguardero (Border with Bolivia). I got to the border at 4am which was not too fun, they allowed us to stay on and sleep until 5:30am which was a bit nicer of them. Then we had to queue up outside the immigration office until 7:30am and it was cold really cold. The cold that I am talking about is a humid cold so it gets you right down to the bone.
Once the immigration opened it was a pretty painless experience, we had to get a stamp to leave Peru and then get a stamp to enter Bolivia, this took just less than an hour and then we were on our way.
When I say we, on the bus I had a Seminary student sitting next to me and another one behind with his wife. It was great to have someone to talk with, I think it was real providence that they were there. It also meant that I didnt have to hang around for hours on my own, it was great chatting to them.
So on our Journey from Desaguardero to La Paz, well let me say we were like a bunch of sardines packed into a can. we were all crammed into a mini-bus for a couple of hours, it was quicker than taking a big bus but it was a little cramped. We got to El Alto (city above La Paz) safe and sound and then we went our seperate ways, they were travelling onto Cochabamba and I was staying with Javier and Roxana again in La Paz for one night it was a great way to break up the journey and a chance to sleep in a real bed.
